But years later it has allowed experts to decipher the lives of people living in Pompeii and Herculaneum, and as a result it has given us an accurate picture of the lives that people in the ancient world lived. It has also given us insight in to the origins of some engineering and art techniques that are used or have been adapted over history. The techniques used for heating and filtering the public baths was well ahead of their time. It has also preserved irreplaceable pieces of art and architecture.
